History of EuroTier

EuroTier first took place in 1993. Since 1996, Hanover’s exhibition grounds – the largest in the world – has hosted the event every two years in the month of November.

EuroTier is organised and sponsored by the Frankfurt-based German Agricultural Society (DLG). Through-out DLG’s long history (founded in 1885), exhibitions have always played a major role in its work for the agricultural and food sector. Producers of investment goods or farm inputs as well as agricultural-sector service providers have always found and indeed continue to find here a platform that allows them to communicate with agricultural business investors.

The world’s 3 leading exhibitions for the agricultural sector all have their roots in the first DLG exhibition of 1887:

  • die Agritechnica - International Exhibition for Agricultural Machinery
  • die EuroTier - The world’s top event for animal production
  • die Anuga FoodTec - International Exhibition for Food and Drink Technology

Each of the three exhibitions is the largest and most important event worldwide for its respective sector. Together, they cover the entire field of professional agricultural production and food processing and present the most important innovations and upgrades in their line of business.

Furthermore, DLG is not only behind the three leading exhibitions in Germany - Agritechnica, EuroTier and AnugaFoodTec – but also organises exhibitions in Poland, China and Russia too.

The 8th EuroTier held in 2008 managed to attract more than 130.000 visitors and 1.767 exhibitors.

The next EuroTier is scheduled to be held from  16 through to 19 November 2010.

Within the scope of EuroTier 2006, BioEnergy Europe premiered and immediately became the largest exhibition worldwide for technology and services related to today’s “hot topic” of bioenergy and local energy supply. In 2008, around 230 companies specialized in the subject were exhibiting at BioEnergy Europe, plus a further 200 companies providing products and services of interest not only for animal professionals, but also for those seeking information on bioenergy.
